Phat Bihu festival in Dhakuakhana from May 7

LAKHIMPUR: Like the previous years, Phat Bihu festival, the cultural pride of Dhakuakhana, will be celebrated at Mohghuli Chapori on the bank of River Charikariya this year too. This year the festival will be celebrated from May 7 to May 9 with the participation of all sections of the society, irrespective of caste and religions. Various events like Mukoli bihu, Jeng Bihu, Toka Bihu, Mohila Bihu and gamosa competition will be held this year during the celebration of the festival.

On Saturday, the celebration committee, which was constituted with Pranjal Gohain as president and Deben Gogoi as secretary, opened a temporary office at Dhakuakhana town for the convenience of communication. The office was formally inaugurated by Sarbeswar Sut Baruah, a senior citizen of Dhakuakhana and a prominent writer. The event was attended by Phat Bihu permanent committee president Pradip Chamuah, secretary Naba Gogoi along with a host of prominent personalities of Dhakuakhana subdivision.
