PIB organizes Media Vartalap on Viksit Bharat at NTPC-Bongaigaon

KOKRAJHAR: Press Information Bureau (PIB), Guwahati under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt of India, in collaboration with the NTPC-Bongaigaon, organized a Regional Media Workshop on “Viksit Bharat ka Amrit Kaal” at NTPC-Bongaigaon, Salakati in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.

The opening remarks were made by Pavni Gupta, Deputy Director, PIB, Guwahati, while the welcome address was delivered by the Head of Project, NTPC, Arnab Maitra. In his speech, Maitra said that journalists were not merely news correspondents but had the responsibility to take society forward.

In his inaugural speech, BTC EM Wilson Hasda said that a country needed a strong and visionary leader to develop the country. He said that India got a dynamic and visionary Prime Minister like Narendra Modi who was taking India to the level of a vibrant nation. Hasda said that India under Modi was going towards Viksit Bharat. He also hailed Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and BTC chief Pramod Boro for strengthening the economy of the region. He added that Boro’s mission to give platforms to youths was very significant as he gave due importance to education, sports, and culture for the youths. He said that for development of sports, Bir Chilagang Basumatary Stadiums in 40 constituencies are being constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore each, existing sports infrastructures are being upgraded, a sports academy was coming up, while big football championships like Durand Cup and Santish trophy were being organized in a continuous manner to inspire the local football talents. He also elaborated other landmark schemes for the youths for job opportunities and self-sustenance.       

In his speech as chief guest, Lok Sabha MP Joyanta Basumatary said that India was moving ahead towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that former Prime Minister Late Manmohan Singh had brought a landmark economic reform in 1991 to advance India’s economic status and position. He also said that power was the key to economic development and thus self-sufficient power plants are needed to grow the economy. “We cannot reach our goal of Viksit Bharat unless both men and women work together with equal responsibility,” he said, adding that women’s participation in every aspect is of utmost importance for economic sustainability. He also said that India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given priority to advancement of science and technology, farmers, moon mission, Mars mission, and even a mission to the Sun.
