BISWANATH CHARIALI: On the eve of Sukapha Day or Assam Day, poet Arup Saikia wrote a poem namely Chaolung Sukapha to pay tribute to the great monarch. In the thirteenth century, first big unified political map of Assam was drawn in world history. Arup Saikia tries to highlight various qualities of Monarch Chaolung Sukapha that propounded prevalent sense of Assamese being in his poem.

Until nowadays many non-Assamese people consider Sukapha as aggressor or infiltrator from alien country. The real deed and contribution of Sukapha's rule has been factually explained for new generation in the poem.Every Assamese and Indian should correct their misconception about the architect of modern political Assam. Many small kingdoms were assimilated to Ahom reign and remained as protectorate. Eventually, unifying command against mighty enemies and existence of greater Assam was materialised.
