Polling officer Debajit Choudhury dies in a road accident at Bongaigaon

BONGAIGAON: One polling officer died on Tuesday night while returning from duty. Debajit Choudhury, a resident of Ward No. 4 of Bijni town in Chirang district, was a school teacher in Dhubri district and was on election duty in the third phase of LAC polls as polling officer at Dheerghat of Dhubri district. Eyewitness stated that after performing duty while he was returning home on his bike (AS-26-A-9342) , the bike collided with a truck in the Hapasara area of Bongaigaon district at about 2.30 am. The local people called an ambulance and sent him to the hospital but he was declared dead in the hospital.
