KOKRAJHAR: A special interaction programme on the topic ‘BTR on the path of progress’ was organized by the IT Cell of the UPPL at Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar on Saturday evening where Chief of BTC Pramod Boro interacted with the youths and stakeholders on the BTC model of development. Many youths raised their queries on various aspects including inclusive mission and vision.
The social interaction programme was also attended by BTC Speaker Katiram Boro, EM Dr Nilut Swargiary, MLA Lawrence Islary, President of Women’s Wing UPPL Pratibha Brahma, General Secretary of Youth Wing UPPL Dr Sangrang Brahma, and others.
In his keynote address, Minister UG Brahma said, “We could not imagine a university, technical institute, engineering college, medical college, and other institutions in the Bodo belt which was one of the most backward regions, but after the 2003 BTC, many changes were witnessed.” He said that the Chief of BTR, Pramod Boro, had been working for the transformation of BTC with innovative ideas. He also said that to develop a region, the leader should have a big vision and determination for economic development. “The Government of BTR has involved the NGOs as one of the stakeholders of the council in implementing projects like the Gujarat model and many experts are also engaged to boost the system and preparation of projects for sustainable development goals,” he added.
Brahma said that as India was moving towards becoming the 3rd largest economy in the world, the people of BTC would also become self dependent and that with this outlook, the present BTR Government was working for the development of the region by involving civil society. He also said that the BTC region would also witness economic upliftment within 2047.
Chief of BTC Pramod Boro spoke on the BTC model of development and said that the Government of BTR had launched 35 missions for integrated development of the region, reformed the administrative system, digitized records and established online portals for easy delivery of services to the people. He said that the council had adopted an inclusive policy for equal rights and justice to all communities and that vision documents had been launched to solve their basic problems and other shortcomings. He also said that the council government had taken up initiatives to resolve the conflict of interest among the communities and was working for the establishment of reconciliation by restoring permanent peace and understanding.
A youth, Sanu Gowala, enquired about the steps which the BTR Government had taken to create job avenues for the youths who were going to other cities of India in search of employment. In his reply, the CEM of BTR said the Government of BTR had launched various missions to engage the youths in skill development to make them self reliant and provided platforms to entrepreneurs, sports, culture, and film industries to grow in their career. He also said that the council had signed MoUs with multi-national companies for creating more job opportunities and that support was being given to the horticulture sector for organic productions as well. He also said that the council had witnessed a jump of over Rs 3,800 crore transactions in the agriculture sector. Financial support would also be given to returning migrant women working in other cities, he added.
