KOKRAJHAR: In a significant initiatives of the government of BTR for the most backward areas of Porbotjhora sub division, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC Pramod Boro on Saturday laid the foundation stones for the construction of auditorium hall at Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma College, Bir Chilagang Basumatary Memorial Stadium and martyr Sujit Narzary Memorial Auditorium Hall at Tipkai in Porbotjhora sub division of Kokrajhar district in the presence of MLA Lawrence Islary and nominated member Madhav Chandra Chetri.
Talking to media persons, the chief of BTC Pramod Boro said these projects will greatly enhance the inclusivity and development in Porbotjhora sub division of Kokrajhar district and will reflect their commitment to strengthening education, sports, and cultural growth in BTR. He said the government of BTR had been giving due recognition and honour to the great Bodo leaders who worked relentlessly for the society. He said martyr Sujit Narzary Memorial Community halls had been constructed in 40 constituencies of BTC at a cost of Rs. 1 crore each while Bir Chilagang Basumatary Stadium worth Rs. 5 crores each had been constructed in every MLA segment to facilitate cultural and sporting activities.
The newly-created Porbotjhora sub division with parts of undivided Dhubri district had been lagging behind in all spheres. There had been lack of motorable roads, bridges, health services, drinking water facilities, educational institutions and other basic infrastructures. The road communications were in shambles and some government structures and departmental buildings were in useless states but with slew of new projects of the government of BTR, Porbotjhora sub division is getting the pace of development steadily.
