GAURISAGAR: With a view to ensure proper utilization of village resources and natural resources like river, tributaries, beels and derelict fields, to promote marketing strategies for local resources and to form a pollution-free a model village, a four-day long mega festival called Naamdang Loka Mahotsav will be held January 6 to January 9 at Borpatra Dole High School, Kaloogaon on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district.
Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha will inaugurate Naamdang Loka Mahotsav. In the function, MP Kamakhya Tasa, Amguri MLA Prodip Hazarika, Sivasagar MLA Pronab Gogoi, and Nazira MLA and leader of the Opposition, Debabrata Saikia will be the guests of honour. A souvenir titled Namdang Kush published on the occasion will be unveiled by Dr Ananda Bormudoi, noted litterateur, Professor and Head of the Department of Assamese, Dibrugarh University.
Various events will be held during the four-day mega festival. The mega festival will end with a cultural night programme which will be inaugurated by Monmohan Chutia, noted vocal artiste. For smooth conduct of the festival, a strong reception committee has been formed with Golap Dutta as president and Lachit Dutta as vice-president.
