RANGIA: Rangia police headed by officer in-charge Bhaskar Malla Patowary, saved Rs 25 lakh-Rs 30 lakh of a CSP (Customer Service Point) from being looted by three notorious dacoits of North Harijora near Goreswar under the Baksa district and Sontoli under the Kamrup district.
According to the OC Patowary, they received information that some miscreants were planning to commit dacoity at Santoli under Boko PS and they were coming from Goreswar side. Accordingly, a special naka was conducted in front of Swasti Hospital near National Highway-31 and the police team intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number AS01ES 6846 and apprehended notorious dacoits Fajal Ali (23) and Syed Bubuli Hussain (27) of village Uttar Harijura (Goreswar) under the Baksa district.
During body search, one 7.62 mm pistol along with 8 rounds live ammunition and one magazine were recovered from Sayed Bubul Ali alias Imran and a knife was recovered from Fajal Ali. During interrogation they disclosed that one Anowar Hussain shared information that owner of a bank CSP of Sontali under the Kamrup district would carry Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh from the bank. After receiving the information, the OC along with TSI Samarjyoti Deka and a team of police proceeded to Santoli Bazar and apprehended Anowar Hussain (20) of Bokhradia PS Boko and recovered a knife, used mobile phone and a motorcycle bearing registration number ASEF 4094 from his possession.
It has come to light that a youth of Sontali is running three CSPs and a private ATM at Sontoli Bazar and carries Rs 20 lakh-Rs 25 lakh cash from Boko SBI Bank every alternate date. The apprehended miscreants planned to snatch the amount from him. They were ready to fire or attack with a dagger if necessary, police said.
