Ranjit Dutta Takes Stock of Flood Situation in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Handloom and Textile Minister Ranjit Dutta took stock of the flood situation of Lakhimpur on Saturday. He held a meeting at the DC’s conference hall with the all head officers of the district departments in the presence of DC Dr Jeevan B and Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta. He asked the district administration to remain alert to tackle any situation during the deluge. Further he forwarded instructions to the Joint Director of Health Services along with District Veterinary Officer to render medical service to the flood affected people and livestock.

He instructed the Circle Officer to provide adequate flood relief to the affected people without any kind of anomalies. PWD, Electricity and other departments concerned were also instructed by the minister to shoulder their responsibility for the betterment of the flood affected people.

On the other hand, the flood situation of Lakhimpur has been grim in the affected revenue villages across the district for the fifth day. The present wave of deluge has submerged a total of 133 villages under 6 Revenue Circles (RC) of the district affecting 64,907 people. Out of them, flood has been affecting 52 villages under North Lakhimpur RC, 10 villages under Naoboicha RC, 32 villages under Bihpuriya RC, 26 villages under Narayanpur RC, 1 village under Kadam RC, 5 villages under Subansiri RC and 7 villages under Dhakuakhana RC on Saturday.
