Rashtriya Ekta Divas observed in befitting manner across Assam

Tezpur: Member of Parliament, Tezpur Lok Sabha Constituency, Pallab Lochan Das, while speaking at the closing ceremony of a three-day long exhibition, urged people to unite for the development of the nation. He said that people should follow the ideals of the Iron Man of India - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

According to him, youths should follow the ideals of the Iron Man. He urged parents to teach their children about the contribution of Sardar Patel in nation building. The parliamentarian asserted that because of Sardar Patel’s contribution, people were fortunate to have a united India.

He was addressing the closing ceremony of the birth anniversary celebration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for which a three-day long multi-media exhibition was organized by Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Guwahati at Swahid Bakori, Tezpur with a 22-foot tall replica of the Statue of Unity at the venue. Dr. AM Farooqi, Deputy Director, ROB, Guwahati spoke on the occasion about the importance of this event. He said that Patel’s ideals were very much important in today’s world.

Among others, Defence PRO, Lt. Colonel Harshvardhan Pandey, 4th Corps, Tezpur was so present on the occasion. To commemorate the National Unity Day celebration, ROB, Guwahati also organized exhibition in Dibrugarh, Silchar and Dhubri. A cross-country car safari was organized by the ROB which was flagged off from Dibrugarh on October 30 and reached Tezpur at midnight and from here it moved to Dhubri. The car safari will conclude in Silchar on late Thursday night.

Hailakandi: Along with the rest of the country, Rashtriya Ekta Divas was observed in Hailakandi coinciding with the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Flagging of the Run for Unity at her office campus here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said the run is being organized to remember fondly the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was a symbol of unity. “The Run for Unity is a celebration for the unity of the country irrespective of region, language, caste, creed or religion and that we are Indians first,” she said.

Jalli said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was instrumental in bringing about unification of around 565 princely and feudal states with the mainstream. “The task of integrating around 565 princely and feudal states, which considered themselves to be independent from India, was an uphill task. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel singlehandedly brought about unification of the princely and feudal states by negotiating with them and convincing them to join the mainstream,” said Jalli.

She urged the young generation to imbibe the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to work together to build a strong and united India. Citing an instance of how Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as a lawyer overcame emotions despite getting the news of his wife’s death in the midst of a case and went on to win the case, Jalli said, “He was an iron man who was in control of every emotion and most importantly was in control of what has to be done for the vision of the country.”

GOLAGHAT: The 142 Battalion, CRPF has been observing the Vigilance Awareness Week, 2019 at Unit Hqr, Jonaki Nagar, Golaghat since October 28. It will continue till November 3.

The Vigilance Awareness Week is celebrated by 142 Bn every year and coincides with the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known to be a man of high integrity. The purpose of the Vigilance Awareness Week is to generate awareness about the ill-effects of corruption. On this occasion, Ratul Das, second-in-command of 142 Bn, led the ‘Run for Unity’ along with Dharmbir Kumar, Deputy Commandant, and Dr. T. Balaji, Medical Officer. Ratul Das delivered lecture among the troops/ personnel about the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week every year during the last week of October to fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the threat posed by corruption. He also took the ‘Integrity Pledge’ with officers and all personnel of 142 Bn and motivated the troops to follow the noble path of Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel.

Along with the rest of the State, Rashtriya Ekta Divas, synchronizing with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was observed by Golaghat district administration with a day-long programme in Golaghat on Thursday. In a press statement of DIPRO, Golaghat said that a rally ‘Run for Unity’ was organized which started from the Deputy Commissioner’s residence. Local people, students and representatives of organizations took part in the programme. By paying rich tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Deputy Commissioner Dhiren Hazarika said that due to his vast contribution to the country, at present we were living in a unified country. Later, he administered the ‘Integrity Pledge’ among the employees of the DC office.

On this occasion, essay competition was held in Government Bezbaruah HS School and debate competition was held in the District Library among students.

MORIGAON: Along with the rest of the country, Morigaon district administration on Thursday took out Rashtriya Ekta Run with the support of various departments. The Rashtriya Ekta Run started from Morigaon College and it was flagged off by MLA Ramakanta Deuri in presence of Deputy Commissioner Rituraj Bora and other senior officials. Earlier, DC Rituraj Bora offered floral tribute at the portrait of the Sardar Vallabbhai Patel. More than 600 people took part in the Run for Unity.
