BISWANATH CHARIALI: The Department Related Standing Committee of the Assam Legislative Assembly held a review meeting with the departments concerned in the Biswanath district on Saturday.
Five members of the Standing Committee, namely Prithiraj Rabha, Pramod Borthakur, Zakir Hussain Laskar, Shibamani Borah and Khaliluddin Majumdar, held a meeting with the heads of the departments concerned in Biswanath district and reviewed the development works being implemented in the district. District Commissioner of Biswanath, Dr Neha Yadav, Additional District Commissioner Manas Kumar Saikia, Election Officer Pratisha Dutta, Assistant Planning Officer Munindra Sharma and head officials of the departments concerned were present in the review meeting presided over by Committee member and MLA Prithiraj Rabha at the conference room of the District Commissioner of Biswanath.
At the review meeting, the members of the Standing Committee reviewed the progress of works under the development schemes in the district through the departments of Transport, Public Works (Housing), Environment and Forests, Women and Child Development, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Excise, Assam Energy Distribution Company Limited, Sports etc.
Prior to this review meeting, the Standing Committee visited 11 projects and schemes being implemented in the district. According to the information available, the committee visited projects at Satsanga Model Anganwadi Centre under the Department of Women and Child Development, Chatia College and Dalanguri Higher Secondary School under Department of Sports, Wholesale Consumer Cooperative Society and the fair price shop of Shantanu Medhi in Ward No. 6 under Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, integrated office building of the District Commissioner of Biswanath under the Public Works Department (House), Biswanath Chariali Medical College Hospital, Biswanath Zilla Parishad Building, Biswanath Chariali Circuit House, under-construction male and women’s barracks at the police reserve, etc.
