Review meeting on flood preparedness held in Biswanath

A team led by Dr Kripaljyoti Majumder, Nodal Officer, Assam State Disaster Management Authority, Mukunda Upadhyaya, senior technical expert, along with the officials of the District Disaster Management Authority (DPO and FO), participated in a review meeting on district-level flood preparedness in Biswanath on Wednesday.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: A team led by Dr Kripaljyoti Majumder, Nodal Officer, Assam State Disaster Management Authority, Mukunda Upadhyaya, senior technical expert, along with the officials of the District Disaster Management Authority (DPO and FO), participated in a review meeting on district-level flood preparedness in Biswanath on Wednesday.

The review meeting was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner and Sub-Divisional Magistrate in-charge of Biswanath, Jay Shibani. In addition to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate in-charge of Gohpur subdivision and Additional Deputy Commissioner Lukumani Borah, assistant commissioners, the heads of various departments of Biswanath and Gohpur sub-divisions also participated in the review meeting.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority team reviewed the state of preparedness of the district for floods and advised the departments concerned to take appropriate steps.

The state disaster management authority team also visited Gohpur subdivision and monitored the status of preparedness at the pre-identified relief camp and assessed the flood-prone areas at Pake and Lohitmukh.
