Rice for non-NFSA ration card holders released in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration has released rice for those poor families who have no ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). The quantum of rice is 5 kg per member of a family and will be provided to the beneficiaries free of cost.

In pursuance with government letter no. RGR (RRR) 274/2018/842 regarding the allocation of rice of a total of 9955.80 quintals to the district, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Dr. Jeevan B sub-allotted the quantity to the Gaon Panchayat-Level Cooperative Societies (GPSS) and Wholesale Consumer Co-operative Societies (WCCS) of the subdivision for the month of April by issuing an order. The selected fair price shop dealers will distribute the rice amongst the non-ration card holders as per the selected list prepared by the block and circle-level selection committees of the district.

According to the order, 1136.25 quintal of rice is allotted to four GPSS under Naoboicha Circle, 1419.65 quintal to five GPSS under North Lakhimpur Circle, 1140.60 quintal to five GPSS and one WCCS under Bihpuriya Circle, 876.70 quintal to two GPSS under Kadam Circle, 597.20 quintal to one GPSS under Subansiri Circle, 6062.10 quintal to five GPSS and one TCCS under Narayanpur Circle, 370 quintal to four GPSS under Dhakuakhana Circle, 167.35 quintal to Dhakuakhana municipal area and 321.70 quintal to two GPSS under Ghilamora Circle.

Notably, a total of 1,57,030 individuals of 40,294 families and households will be benefitted with this relief item.
