BISWANATH CHARIALI: The Officer-in-Charge of Helem Police Station received information from local sources that a Royal Bengal Tiger cub had been sighted in the bamboo grove located behind the residence of one Paban Das, a resident of Gomeri village under the jurisdiction of Helem Police Station in Biswanath district on Wednesday morning.
Upon receiving the information, the Officer-in-Charge promptly informed the forest department and immediately proceeded to the place along with police staff. A crowd had gathered at the site, and necessary steps were taken by the police team to control the public and ensure safety of both the animal and the people.
Thereafter, the tiger cub was successfully rescued by personnel of the forest department, with active assistance from Helem Police personnel. The animal appeared to be in a stable condition at the time of rescue. It was later provided medical treatment and released in the jungle through Gomeri anti-poaching camp by the forest department to unite with its mother.
