Saraswati Puja celebrated with spiritual fervour in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge music, art, wisdom, and nature, was worshipped across Lakhimpur district in all academic and related institutions on Wednesday.

Regarded as the patroness of art, music, and letters, the academic institutions and other Saraswati Puja mandaps were seen filled with the blended notes of prayers by the students. Neatly dressed students across the district were seen going to their schools and colleges with a bunch of flowers as a tribute to propitiate the goddess for success in their academic life.

On this occasion, the priests performed the due religious rituals invoking the goddess which was followed by naam-prasanga with the offering of xarai full of praashada as per tradition. The Puja was organized in almost major colleges and academic institutions of North Lakhimpur subdivision, like Lakhimpur Girls’ College, Commerce College, LTK College, OPD College, Lakhimpur DIET, BTC, Bihpuriya College, along with all the schools.

Saraswati Puja was also held in the academic intuitions of Dhakuakhana subdivision with due fervour. St. Thomas School, Emanual Mission School, Dhakuakhana College of Teacher Training, Dhakuakhana College, Dhakuakhana Girls’ College, Commerce College, Dhakuakhana Girls’ High School, MV School, and Abhyasan Vidyalaya held the Puja. Some other schools and institutions of the district will celebrate Saraswati Puja on Thursday due to the two-day long Lagna of the Puja this year.

Dibrugarh: Saraswati Puja was observed with great pomp and show here on Wednesday along with other parts of the State. As Goddess Saraswati is believed to be the goddess of education and knowledge, most of the educational institutions observed the day in keeping with the traditions. Saraswati Vandana was recited in many places, followed by the distribution of prasad among the devotees. Most girls were seen in the best of their attire, hopping from pandal to pandal, to pay their obeisance to Goddess Saraswati.

DEMOW: Saraswati Puja was celebrated in Demow and its surrounding areas on Wednesday. Devotees invoked divine blessings for improving learning skills. Students prayed to Goddess Saraswati and later young boys and girls came out on the streets to celebrate Saraswati Puja. The students went to their respective educational institutions wearing colorful dresses. After the Anjali, prasad was distributed among the students. On the other hand, the Sonapur Social Development Society, an NGO, celebrated Saraswati Puja in Demow Kaliapani Swarna Gaon where a student posed as Goddess Saraswati. The Sonapur Social Development Society organized a health awareness in the programme.
