Guwahati: In a bid to restrict any untoward event in the Municipal election in Assam's Tinsukia district, the district magistrate has imposed section 144.
''In order to maintain law and order of the district during election period and conduct of free and fair election, it has become necessary to impose some restrictions in the entire Tinsukia district," the order read.
"It is necessary and expedient to issue prohibitory order U/S 144 Cr.P.C with a view to maintain public peace, security and tranquility within the District," it added.
Since, the administration has imposed 144; assembly of five or more persons has been restricted without the permission from the competent authority or district administration.
Apart from these, holding of meeting or gathering in any public place without prior permission from the competent authority or district administration is restricted.
Taking out procession in any form, Affixing posters, Using loud speakers, Carrying any lethal weapon, Uses of torch light such as mashal, forcible collection or donation, shouting provocative slogans or any act which will give rise to communal tension and bursting crackers are restricted as per the orders.
