KOKRAJHAR: Senior BPF Central Working Committee member Bharat Sharma resigned from the primary membership of BPF today. He was suspended by the party without any show-cause notice for his remarks on the Gandhi family.
Briefing the media at Kokrajhar today, Sharma said he was targeted by the Kokrajhar district BPF, which suspended him without issuing any show-cause notice. He said that the BPF had suspended him after he briefed media persons against the “Gandhi family” on September 19.
“No notice was given before suspending me. None of his words were heard by the BPF,” he said, adding that after his press meeting, he had received a call from the BPF party at 10 p.m., which called him to go to the BPF office to meet district president Derhasat Basumatary at Kokrajhar. He said that he had not gone to the BPF office the next morning at 10 a.m.
He said that the leaders of the Kokrajhar district Bodoland Students’ Union (BSU), members of the youth and women wings of the BPF, and district executive members of the BPF were present at the office. “As soon as I reached the party office, I was asked why I called a press meeting and why I spoke against the Gandhi family.”
Sharma said that the president of Kokrajhar district, BPF, held him guilty for taking the name of Chief Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma, BJP, and RSS. He said that Derhasat Basumatary did not like his support and association with Sanatani Hindus. He said he was proud of being a Sanatani Hindu and will be Sanatani forever. He also said his religion would come first. “I told them that I have filed a case against those people who spoke against the Sanatan Dharma and those who are supporting the statement of a Tamil Nadu Minister, Udayaneedhi Stalin. And if we talk about the Gandhi family, I have not said anything wrong. After that, the Kokrajhar district president of the BPF pointed his finger at me”, he said, adding that he was threatened by the district president of the BPF. Sharma said that the BPF asked him to apologise for speaking against the Gandhi family on the party platform.
