Senior journalist & former vice president of Tinsukia Press Club Bikash Moran commits suicide

Senior journalist Bikash Moran (49), bureau chief of a satellite news channel and former vice president of Tinsukia Press Club, allegedly committed suicide after shooting himself at his Makum’s residence on Monday night.

TINSUKIA: Senior journalist Bikash Moran (49), bureau chief of a satellite news channel and former vice president of Tinsukia Press Club, allegedly committed suicide after shooting himself at his Makum's residence on Monday night. Though the reason behind the incident is being investigated, the Tinsukia Superintendent of Police Debojit Deuri told this correspondent that Moran shot himself in presence of his wife. Police recovered the pistol from his residence.

Several hundred people from 28 organisations including Tinsukia District Journalists' Association, Tinsukia Press Club, Tinsukia E-Media Forum, APCU, JUA paid last tribute to Moran after his mortal remains reached Thana Chariali Tinsukia on Tuesday before being taken to his Makum residence and finally to the native village for cremation. He leaves behind his mother, wife and 3 children.
