GUWAHATI: A wellness session on substance abuse dependency and Behavioral Change was organized on Friday by the Students' Welfare Committee, along with the Department of Psychology and Social Work, Royal Global University Guwahati, and Parivartan Wellness Retreat, a Drug and Alcohol de addiction Center based in Kharghuli, Guwahati. The workshop discussed at length about the ill effects of Substance abuse and its impact on social life, it also dwelt on the negative behavioral changes that takes place in an individual. The goal of the session was to create an awareness among the students regarding the numerous approaches and rehabilitation programs that are available to diagnose, treat and manage substance abuse and its associated problems. The session was conducted by Mr. Asim Pandey, Senior Counsellor, Parivartan Wellness Retreat, Mr. Diganta Barua, Social Worker/Peer Educator, Parivartan Wellness Retreat and Mr. Nilotpal Kakaty, Intelligence Officer, Narcotics Control Bureau, Guwahati Zonal Branch. Dr BS Mipun, Dean of Students' Welfare, RGU was also present on the occasion. This was stated in a press release by Parivartan Wellness Retreat.
