JORHAT: Severe storm and rain which lasted for over an hour on Saturday night, damaged 100 houses, uprooted trees and blew away roofs and CI-sheets of several naamghars and schools. Several link roads between Jorhat-Titabor, Jorhat-Mariani and Jorhat-Nazira and the rail track between Jorhat-Mariani were blocked and uprooted wayside trees had to be cleared by the departments of Forest and PWD, said Tapan Gohain, Additional DC, Jorhat on Sunday.
The worst-affected areas were Meleng, Koronga, Cinnamora, Mariani. Pukhuria, Doklongia, Koliapani, Murmuria, Hatigorh, Bheloguri, Na-Kachari, Lahing, Hemlai, Gondhia, Naginijan and Holonguree.
