Show-cause notice issued to Naharani Tea Estate management

TEZPUR: Show cause notice was issued to Naharani Tea Estate management by Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, Medical Inspector of Plantations, Tezpur on Friday.

Officials sources said that Naharani Tea Estate belongs to Amalgamated Plantation Pvt Limited under Rangapara LAC of Sonitpur district. Naharani Tea Estate management completely failed to provide safe and adequate drinking water supply to the workers in their residential area. Most of the wells are not in a usable condition. Due to leakage there is every possibility of outbreak of water-borne diseases. Further, the management has also not provided proper protective materials to the workers engaged in spraying chemicals in the garden. They are not properly medically checked and medical records of the workers engaged in spraying and handling chemicals in the garden are not maintained, as per government notification.
