GOLAGHAT: Golaghat Police detained six Congress workers in connection with the alleged bottle-throwing incident targeting Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s convoy.
The Golaghat Police caught the Congress workers from several places and took them to the Golaghat police station. The detained congress workers were Partha Sarthi Bora, General Secretary of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress Committee and In-Charge of Golaghat District Youth Congress, Rupantar Hazarika, President of Golaghat District Youth Congress Committee, Krishna Chutia, Youth Congress leader Rahul Saikia, Youth Congress leader Rahul Phukan, a leader from Sarupathar constituency, and Pallab Chetia, General Secretary of APCC.
The incident occurred when the Chief Minister’s convoy was passing by the Congress office, where protesters were demonstrating against the recent anomalies in the ‘Garukhuti Gir Gai’ scheme. A bottle was allegedly thrown from the Congress office towards the convoy, sparking a strong reaction from the authorities. The police took swift action and caught the six Congress leaders in connection with the incident.
