Small tea grower dies of COVID in Tinsukia

DOOMDOOMA: Kamal Deka, son of Prabin Deka and a resident of Bordubi Rumai Gabharu near here, died of COVID-19 at Tinsukia Civil Hospital on Friday. He was a cousin of Rabin Chandra Deka, former chairman, ABITA (Assam Branch Indian Tea Association), Doomdooma Circle, and had his early education at Doomdooma.

By dint of his hard labour he later started a green leaf tea garden at Rumai Gabharu. He was popular there for his socio-cultural activities. He was 64 and is survived by his wife, who is elder sister of Munindra Mahanta, a member of Doomdooma Press Club, a son and a married daughter. His death has cast a pall of gloom and was mourned by Doomdooma Press Club, All Assam Small Tea Growers' Association, Doomdooma Anchalik Committee among others.
