JOYSAGAR, July 27: The Sivasagar District Legal Services cell of the District Session Judge office arranged two separate social awareness meetings recently.
One meeting was held in the Sivasagar Girls’ College auditorium where the safety and security of women was discussed. Various laws enacted especially keeping in view the social and economic problems faced by women in the country and laws to deal with witch-hunting and child marriage were discussed. Legal experts asked women to take legal help in case of any such atrocity and violence.
The other awareness meeting was held in the 459 Aailamukh ME School of Bhatiapara under Joysagar PS where District Legal Services Cell officers and legal experts focused on women’s safety, prevention of child labour and child marriage. The role of social media in empowering women was also discussed and the experts asked people not to believe in any fake information on superstitious beliefs.
