Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma unfurls tricolour in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The 74th Independence Day was celebrated in Kokrajhar maintaining the protocol of lockdown. The day was celebrated with simple programme of flag hoisting, parade of uniform contingents and speech by VIP.

The Minister of Social Welfare and Soil Conservation Pramila Rani Brahma hoisted the National flag at Kokrajhar in a thin public attendance. She inspected the guard of honour by armed contingents before hoisting of flag.

In her speech, she recalled the supreme sacrifices of national heroes along with Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi in the freedom movement of Imdia. She said due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Government failed to celebrate the Independence Day in a big manner across India. She thanked the frontline wariors in the ongoing pandemic and said the country is fully with them. She also called upon all to join in fighting with Corona Virus and to follow the protocols of lock down.

Brahma reminded people about the condition in BTC region before it was formed in 2003. She said there had been many spectacular achievements in the region after BTC came in to being. For higher education, there has been Bodoland University, Engineer College, CIT, Nursing Training Centre, IT Park and construction is going on in full swing for Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital and Nursing College, RCC bridges in all big and small Rivers, construction of roads, Integrated Textile Park in Mushalpur, Model Hospitals in 12 places of four BTC districts and other constructions, she said adding that the council could become a role model amongst the 6th schedule administration.
