DHEKIAJULI: Sonitpur District Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour at Swahid Smarak Udyan, Dhekiajuli, on Sunday. The event was graced by the presence of local MLA and Assam’s Health & Family Welfare Minister, Ashok Singhal, who extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Sonitpur and lauded the district’s significant contributions to the development of Assam.
As a mark of respect and appreciation, the police personnel of Dhekiajuli police station were felicitated with traditional Phulam Gamochas during the function, receiving a warm applause from the attendees.
The celebration featured a vibrant painting session and an exhibition by local artists, which drew considerable public interest. The artworks, highlighting local heritage and patriotic themes, added cultural depth and colour to the occasion.
In his address, Minister Singhal emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage while striving for holistic development. He commended both the citizens and the administration for their active roles in the district’s ongoing progress.
Several dignitaries were present at the event, including Dyotiva Bora, Co-District Commissioner of Dhekiajuli, Sushmita Das, Chairperson of the Dhekiajuli Municipal Board, Bhargav Moni Das, CDSP, Rathish Bora, Assistant Commissioner, and Nayan Jyoti Pathak, Circle Officer of the Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of dignitaries, social workers, CDC office staff, Dhekiajuli police personnel, and local residents. Officials noted the high public turnout as a reflection of increasing civic awareness and community spirit.
