Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls organized in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: As part of the Special Summary Revision 2023 in Sonitpur district, Special Registration Camps in educational institutions are being organized from November 30 to December 3 for youths between 17 to 21 years. The integrated draft electoral roll was published on November 9, 2022 and the process of filing claims and objections is currently underway till December 8, 2022. The final electoral rolls will be published on January 5, 2023.

As part of this, Special Registration Camps in educational institutions are being organized from November 30-December 3 for youths between 17 to 21 years. Students who are yet to enrol their names will be able to register as voters during these special camps, and will need to carry a photograph, ID and address proof.

The Election Commission of India after bringing in certain legal amendments has now approved of four qualifying dates, i.e., January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 as eligibility for youngsters to register in electoral rolls and that anyone attaining 17 years of age can now apply in advance for enrolment and they need not wait to attain 18 years on January 1 of a year, as was the case previously.

The special camps will continue in all Polling Stations on December 3 and December 4 as well. Interested citizens can now fill up forms through the Voter Helpline App and www.nvsp.in or through their local Booth Level Officer by filling offline forms. All citizens are also requested to link their EPICs with their Aadhaar.
