Srimanta Sankardev Sangha’s 95th annual session public meet held at Dhekiajuli

DHEKIAJULI: The public meeting of the 95th annual session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha 2026 was held on Sunday at Dhekiajuli Higher Secondary Girls’ School. The event, commencing at 3 PM, turned into a vivid reflection of Assam’s inclusive identity as members from diverse ethnic, linguistic, and religious communities including Nepali, Bodo, tea tribe, Adivasi, and Gorkha came together in participation and support.

Presided over by Adarani Committee President Prabhakar Barman, the meeting saw the presence of Secretary Bipul Bora, Joint Secretary Dr Manas Pratim Bora, and Advisor Sachindra Baisya. The session began with a formal declaration, followed by a series of ceremonial and informative proceedings. These included introductory speeches, a statement of objectives, an overview of the forthcoming 95th annual session, and a spiritual invocation in the form of Guru Bandana. Various groups and social organizations offered suggestions and pledged support for the successful execution of the event.

The organizing committee announced that the 95th annual session will be held on February 6, 7, and 8, 2026, at Dhalaibil-Naharabari field in Jamugurihat, under the stewardship of the Tezpur district branch. With an estimated budget of Rs 4.10 crore, the session is expected to be a grand affair marked by cultural and spiritual programmes. It will be hosted under the theme of ‘Jyoti-Bishnu Samannay Kshetra,’ symbolizing the ideals of harmony propagated by Srimanta Sankardev and Madhabdev.

Sunday’s event witnessed the attendance of several distinguished guests and community leaders. Among them were former President and current Chief Advisor of the AJYCP, Rana Pratap Baruah, retired teacher Dhruva Prasad Nath, Dhekiajuli Nagarik Mancha President Narayan Bora, AMSSU Sonitpur President Aftab Rahman Khandarkar, Bengali Youth Students’ Council representative Ajay Saha, Government Pensioners’ Association official Karuna Dutta Bora, and Sankar Mandir Naamghar Secretary Dhruva Kumar Bora, among others.

Organizers and speakers emphasized the importance of cooperation among all communities to make the upcoming session a vibrant celebration of spiritual and cultural unity. The meeting concluded on a hopeful note, with collective pledges for active participation and successful coordination in the upcoming February event.
