JOYSAGAR, Sept 30: Sivasagar District Police held a special social awareness meeting on Sunday in the Sivasagar Sadar Thana premises to discuss social evils and to create consciousness among people, especially the student community. The meeting was hosted by the Sivasagar PS Officer in-charge while it was chaired by the District ASP, BD Munda. Speaking at the meeting, Munda briefed about the dangers of drug and narcotic addiction. He also focused on other social evils which were causing unrest in the society.
Addressing the gathering, Sivasagar Superintendent of Police SK Sonowal said that though there were so many challenges and problems before Assam Police, yet the force was devoted to serve the people. Better police-public relation and joint effort could help build a peaceful society, he said. Sivasagar Police also appealed to people to observe festivals in a peaceful and nature-friendly manner. Sivasagar village defense force and home guards were also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Surgical Strike Day was observed in Charaideo district by the Sonari Army camp in association with the CRPF, Charaideo. A public meeting was also held and security forces showcased many modern weapons of the Indian Army and appealed to people to help them in fighting against the terrorism as well as social evils.
