Stress laid on environmental conservation activities

A national online lecture titled 'Only One Earth: Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature' was organized by DHSK Commerce College

DIBRUGARH: A national online lecture titled 'Only One Earth: Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature' was organized by the Department of Assamese of DHSK Commerce College here on the occasion of World Environment Day.

This third lecture as part of the national online lecture series organized by the department in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college, was delivered by Manash Pratim Dutta, an environmental activist-cum-writer of the new generation and general secretary of Assam Science Writers' Association.

Delivering the inaugural address, Dr Khanindra Mishra Bhagawati, principal of the institution, made efforts to sensitize the gathering to be determined to keep the world beautiful through different environmental conservation activities. Dr Tanka Prasad Upadhyay, coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college, stated the aim and objective of holding the national online lecture series and hailed the organizing department for the same.

Manash Pratim Dutta, in his deliberation, highlighted the works to be performed to keep the vibrant world suitable for all the living beings. Dr Bidisha Mahanta, assistant professor, Department of Economics and International Business, moderated the interactive session of the programme between the speaker and the audience, attended by many students, college teachers and teachers from various schools and colleges in the State. Renowned Journalist and social activist of Odisha, Deepak Kumar Panda too graced the lecture programme. The interaction concluded with an active participation of Deepak Kumar Panda, Dr Lohit Saikia, faculty member, MDK Girls' College; Dr Swapna Nath and Dr Anita Baruah, faculty members and Priyom Kumar Gupta, student from the organizing college. To mark the occasion of World Environment Day, the Assamese department organized a prize money intra-college essay writing competition on the topic 'Role of Media in Environmental Protection'. Anamika Pachani, Neha Pandey and Muskan Muraka came first, second and third respectively.
