'Sudinar Sankalpa' programme held on completion of 17 years of Charoiveti

To take pledge for continuing good works for the betterment of the society, uplift of culture and literature, strengthening the bond of unity and harmony

LAKHIMPUR: To take pledge for continuing good works for the betterment of the society, uplift of culture and literature, strengthening the bond of unity and harmony, the Charoiveti Publication House organized a unique programme titled as 'Sudinar Sankalpa' on Sunday in Lakhimpur.

Like the previous years, the event was organized on the new year's day on the auspicious occasion of the completion of glorious 17 years of Charoiveti, the terminal magazine regularly published from North Lakhimpur. The day-long event was organized in a befitting manner in association with 'Sabda', a literary body, at the beautiful landscape on the bank of the Somdiri, the tributary of River Subansiri, near NH-15 at North Lakhimpur town. Literary figures, cultural-social activists, including common people, assembled in the event, took resolution to work for the well-being of mankind with united strength throughout the upcoming years.

During the course of the event, the bank of the Subansiri reverberated with the blended notes of recitation of poems, singing of songs and literary discussion. The event was held under the management of Charoiveti editor Kalyani Chakraborti Gogoi, Sabda secretary Bubul Hazarika, writers Mukut Gogoi and Sanjib Upadhyay. It began with the lighting of ceremonial lamps by novelist Dhanada Devi and a Borgeet presented by Bonti Lekharu. Then two audio recordings of two poems by Bubul Hazarika, namely Asukh and Janaki, recited by Dr Kumud Das and Hemanta Bez, were released.

In the same event, Sabda-Charoiveti Sourabh awards were conferred on literary figure Bharat Rajkhowa and Bihu exponent Dr Amarendra Gogoi. Writer Joychandra Hazarika, Xatriya cultural exponent Surajit Bhuyan, journalist-writers Sailen Baruah, Ranjit Kakati attended the event as guests of honour. Over 30 poets from Nalbari, Borpeta, Dhemaji and Lakhimpur recited poems in the event. The students of Lakhimpur Xatriya Sangeet Mahavidyalay performed a Bhor-Tal Nritya.

Attending the event, several prominent persons of Lakhimpur working in different fields shared their thoughts. Social worker Uday Sankar Hazarika released an anthology of short stories, writen by Tapan Bhuyan.
