SIVASAGAR: A mass gathering was held in Sivasagar today under the initiative of the All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU), demanding tribal status and autonomous governance for the Tai Ahom community. The event saw participation from ATASU district committee representatives, activists, and a large number of community members. Following the mass meeting at Boarding Field, a grand rally was organized across the town to voice their demands. ATASU Central President Basanta Gogoi expressed strong resentment for tribal recognition not being provided to the Tai Ahom community. “Our community has been left directionless and deprived.
