TAYPA flays government over price hike, burns effigy

NAHARKATIA: Tai AhomYuvaParishad, Asom (TAYPA) Naharkatiasubdivisional committee burnt the effigy of State Food and Supply Minister PhaniBhushanChoudhury at Naharkatia Moran Tiniali in protest against price hike. Around 50 members of TAYPA took part in the protest wearing potato and onion garlands on their neck and shouting various slogans against the BJP-led Assam Government. Participating in the protest, the president of TAYPA, Naharkatiasubdivisional committee said, "The BJP government has sold itself to the Fancy Bazar traders."

He added, "If Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal does not check the price hike of essential commodities, which has hit hard the common people who are already suffering due to lockdown and the COVID situation, be prepared to get a response in 2021."
