JAMUGURIHAT: Kalpana Sen Bora (59), a teacher of Normal Practicing School, Sootea and an active social organizer, breathed her last on Tuesday night at her Udaipur residence due to prolonged illness. She was closely associated with many socio-cultural organizations of the greater Sootea, including Sootea Kabi Mancha, Nari Shakti, Madhuri Ahatar Tol Bihu, Moina Parijat, Sootea Natya Samaj, among others.
Sen Bora held the portfolio of secretary of Sootea branch of Lekhika Samaroha, Sootea branch of Axam Xahitya Xabha. She was a life member of Axam Xahitya Xabha. Representatives of various socio-cultural organizations, including the Sootea branch of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Lekhika Samaroh, Sootea Press Club, Sootea Kabi Mancha, among others paid rich tributes to the mortal remains. Before the last rite, her body was brought to her school wherein the teacher community and students offered homage to her.
She leaves behind her husband, a son, two daughters, a daughter-in law along with a host of relatives. Her untimely demise was widely mourned in the greater Sootea area.
