LAKHIMPUR: The Sodou Asom Prathamik TET Urtirna Sikshak Samaj (SAPTUSS), the common forum of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified contractual Lower Primary (LP) teachers, has demanded the State Government to release their long pending Dearness Allowance (DA) immediately.
In this connection, the Lakhimpur district unit of the organization convened a press conference in North Lakhimpur Press Club on Wednesday. Addressing the media persons, Atul Neog and Dhiru Saikia, the president and secretary of the Lakhimpur district unit of the organization, said that a total of 40,000 TET qualified LP teachers under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan had been deprived of the increased Dearness Allowance since 30 months. The arrear amount of their due Dearness Allowance are— 5 per cent, 11 per cent and 3 per cent— total 19 per cent since July 1 of 2019.
In the same press conference, the district leaders of the organization further demanded the State Government to regularize their jobs without any conditions, to grant them every facility of teachers by according regularized status to their jobs from July 1, 2019 until and unless their jobs were regularized, as per cabinet decision.
"Notably, the TET qualified LP teachers are drawing only 12 per cent of Dearness Allowance while other regular teachers of the State are drawing 30 per cent of the same," Atul Neog and Dhiru Saikia stated.
They further informed that the TET qualified contractual LP teachers had yet not received the benefits of NPS, Service Books, teacher awards, Apon Ghar scheme, MACPS, along with death related benefits like the other regularized teachers had been benefitted.
"Though the State Government, as per cabinet decision taken on July 1 in 2019, made a declaration that all these benefits would be accorded to us, no process has still been initiated to execute the declaration. It is a matter of serious concern for us," the president and secretary added.
