Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das visits tea estate, stresses wearing of masks & social distancing

TEZPUR: MP Tezpur Pallab Lochan Das visited Pertabghur Tea Estate in Biswanath district on Saturday and interacted with female workers of the garden who were engaged in plucking tea leaves.

Das informed them about the importance of wearing masks at public places and maintaining social distancing in the wake of rising cases of the novel coronavirus across the world. He also advised to follow the hand washing guideline under COVID protocol and to maintain social distancing, not only in the working site but also in the residential area.

Accompanied by MLA of Biswanath, Promod Borthakur and Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, special member of the Medical Advisory Board of Plantations Workers, Government of Assam, Das also suggested that the tea garden management should keep strict vigil on people coming from other States and advised to keep them in separate quarantine places instead of home quarantine.

MLA Borthakur requested the student organizations to extend their full cooperation to the management. He stressed proper sanitization in the residential areas, hospital and factory and advised strict vigil to stop sale of illicit liquor in the garden. Dr Lahkar suggested the management to provide hand sanitizers also in addition to soap and water in washing areas and to do regular temperature check-up of the workers with thermal scanner in the working places. Diganta Ghatowar and some other dignitaries and student leaders are also present.

Pallab Lochon Das appreciated the garden management for steps taken and arrangements to follow the steps taken by the management against COVID-19 in running the garden as per government guidelines.
