TEZPUR: Tezpur University (TU) began the 2025–26 academic year with a focus on fostering student well-being and strengthening trust among the university, its students, and their families. By hosting parallel orientation and parent-interaction programmes, TU underscored the importance of a supportive academic environment where students can thrive both personally and professionally.

At the Department of Business Administration, the MBA Orientation Programme was held at the KBR Auditorium. Vice-Chancellor Prof Shambhu Nath Singh, in his Diksharambh address, urged students to work hard, remain innovative, and maintain discipline, emphasizing that higher education should not be solely placement-driven but should cultivate curiosity, resilience, and essential life skills.

The programme featured insights from Prof Chandan Goswami, Dean, School of Management Sciences, Prof MK Sarma, Dean, Research & Development, and Prof SS Sarkar, Director, International Affairs. A distinctive ‘Feelings of Parents and Guardians’ session invited guardians to share their thoughts, reinforcing the university’s belief that strong collaboration between students, parents, and faculty fosters a more nurturing learning environment.

Meanwhile, the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) hosted Abhibhavak Samvaad — its first-ever interactive session with parents and guardians. Head of Department Prof Abhijit Bora welcomed the gathering, calling the students the newest members of the ‘MCJ family.’ Programme Coordinator Prof Joya Chakraborty emphasized the department’s role in shaping well-rounded media professionals over the next two years. Alumni shared personal experiences of how the department’s academic rigour and mentorship contributed to their success. Prof Chandan Kumar Sharma, Dean, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, and Prof Manabendra Mandal, Dean, Students Welfare, also addressed the students.

The event also saw the inauguration of the photography exhibition ECLAT and the wall magazine MCJ Samvaad, themed on cybercrime awareness.
