SILCHAR: A terrible midnight head-on collision between a motor bike and a scooty left three youths dead on the spot while another fighting for life at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The tragic accident happened on Friday night at around 1 pm at Silchar Ramnagar bypass. Deceased, all in their mid twenties, were identified as Suhail Khan, Rehan Chowdhury and Kunal Kar. Deepanjan Dutta, a resident of Hailakandi was critically injured.
Local residents who came to rescue, said, Kunal Kar was riding the bike with Deepanjan pillion riding while Sohail and Rehan, riding the scooty were coming from the opposite side. The accident happened when Kunal overtook a truck and collided with the scooty. Both the two wheelers were in deadly speed, the eyewitness account added. Three died on the spot while Deepanjan was rushed to SMCH.
Earlier on Friday morning another accident took place on Sadarghat overbridge in Silchar which left one Suman Das dead on the spot. The accident happened at around 11 am when a loaded mini truck hit the bike Suman was riding. Agitated locals damaged the mini truck and beat the driver Jasimuddin Barbhuiyan who was later arrested by the police.
