Tinsukia Police Announces Rs 2 lakh Reward for Information on Grenade Blast

Tinsukia: Tinsukia Police on Saturday announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh to anyone who gives any information about the people involved in the grenade attack in Digboi's Tinrai market that left two people dead and an equal number of people injured.

Tinsukia police have announced this cash reward hoping that some people would come forward with any information they may have about the people involved in the blast that took place outside a hardware shop in the market. Surajit Talukdar, one among the two killed was the lone bread earner of his family.

The police have released pictures of the two motorcycle-borne suspect and asked people to share information on 8638018965 via phone or WhatsApp.

The official Twitter account of Tinsukia Police, posted, "Just in: @TinsukiaPolice announced cash rewards upto Rs 2 lacs for anyone giving concrete info abt suspected miscreants on bike as seen in pics. They r wanted in May 14 grenade blast case in Tingrai bazar. Pl inform via call/WhatsApp- 8638018965. Your identity wil be kept secret."

On Saturday, Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the blast site and met the family members of Surajit Talukdar, who succumbed to his injuries at Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh.

The CM tweeted, "Today visited & met family members of late Surajit Talukdar who was killed in a dastardly grenade blast at Tingrai market in Digboi on Friday. Announced Rs 5 lakh one time financial assistant to next of kin of victims Talukdar and Sanjiv Singh. Asked for best treatment to injured."

Sarma further said that it will be premature to name which organization is behind the blast. "Now, that Ulfa (I) has denied their role, let additional information come to me before I make any statement. However, irrespective of whoever is behind the incident, I have instructed Assam police to ensure justice is met out and guilty are brought to book," added Sarma.
