BARPETA: Two drug smugglers were caught at Barpeta road Kalah Bhanga under Barpeta road police station with containers filled with brown sugar and sleeping tablets. Amit Shaha of Howly no. 4 ward in Barpeta district and Anser Ali of Bhaluki village near Barpeta Road were caught red-handed with brown sugar. The police team of Barpeta Road led by Debananda Das, in-charge of Barpeta Road police station, was able to seize 81 brown sugar-filled containers, 350 sleeping tablets, empty containers and cash Rs 30,000 from the Maruti 800 (AS 01 P 6893) in which they were travelling. Police investigation is on.
