GOALPARA: At least two people died in two separate incidents of man-elephant conflict in Goalpara district in the last two days.

The first incident happened at Rongjuli on Monday while the second incident took place at Krishnai on Tuesday. Early on Tuesday morning, one Faijul Ali died on the spot at Krishnai Bidyapara while his father Mohd. Ali sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred when the herd of wild elephants entered the Bidyapara village and the duo, along with many others, tried to stop the herd from entering their village.

On the other hand, in a similar incident, a young man was trampled to death at Ronguli on Monday. The growing incidents of man-elephant conflict in the district are posing a major threat to the people living adjacent to the forest areas. People have also blamed the forest department for their alleged reluctant attitude to solve this burning issue.
