UBPO hails initiative to implement clauses of BTR Accord

KOKRAJHAR: The United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) on Friday hailed State Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for his role in implementation of the clauses of the BTR accord.

Talking to this correspondent, the president and general secretary of the UBPO, Mihiniswar Basumatary and Anil Basumatary categorically said that the process for formation of the Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC), as per one of the clauses of the BTR accord, was a welcome move. They said they were thankful for fulfilling their long cherished demand for creation of BKWAC for the socio-economic development of Boro Kachari people living outside BTC.

Both the president and general secretary hailed the announcement of implementation of the clauses of the BTR accord within one month, that include making Bodo the associate official language of Assam and forming separate directorate for Bodo medium.

On the other hand, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary also hailed the initiative of the governments of India and Assam to implement the BTR accord within a month. He also thanked Himanta Biswa Sarma for taking initiative in setting up Commission for inclusion of more villages in BTR, implementation of clause 5 of BTR accord to form BKWAC and other vital clauses. He hoped that the development of economy in the council area would be improved if the BTR accord was implemented. He also called upon all the Bodo leaders to be united for the greater interest of the development of society.
