LAKHIMPUR: The UBPO (United Bodo People's Organization) strongly opposed the killing of two Bodo youths in the name of United Liberation of Bodoland (ULB) extremists in Kokrajhar in an alleged fake encounter on September 17.

In this regard, UBPO State president Manoranjan Basumatari and general secretary Pitambar Brahma said, "The killing of Joungsar Mussahari and Janak Kumar Brahma of Jarbari Salguri village under Serphangguri Police Station of Kokrajhar district on September 17 in a fake encounter by making them active extremists is violent and non-humanitarian."

The two dignitaries of the organization demanded exemplary punishment to the accused involved in the heinous incident, which is allegedly considered to be a fake encounter, after launching an impartial probe by high-level authority.

They said that armed activities could never be supported. "Killing of innocent people by misusing power is contrary to the democratic principle and ideology," Manoranjan Basumatari and Pitambar Brahma added.
