A meeting to this effect was held at the conference hall of the DC office in Udalguri in regard to the necessary steps to be taken for the proper functioning of the festival. The meet, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, Dilip Kumar Das, was attended by Superintendent of Police of Udalguri, Rajveer Singh; ADC Bhaskar Jyoti Manta, ADC Jatin Bora, ADC Pranjal Das, along with the general secretaries and secretaries of all Puja committees of Udalguri district.
In the meeting, the DC asked all the committees to abide by the rules and regulations prescribed for them for the peaceful functioning of the Puja celebration. He further asked all the committees to liaise with the nearest police stations on occurrence of any untoward incident having potential to disrupt the smooth celebration of Durga Puja. He further exhorted the committee members to employ volunteers to keep a close watch for any type of suspicious element present within and outside the puja mandap. The DC and SP of Udalguri district also ordered the committees to install CCTV cameras in their puja pandals. The members were also asked to adopt the safety precautions to prevent any type of short circuit inside thepandal. The SP asked the Puja Committees to arrange for proper traffic management and to avoid any type of eve-teasing or molestation. The consumption of alcoholic drinks inside the the Puja pandal will also be dealt strictly said DC Das.
