ULFA linkmen nabbed

Dibrugarh, June 1: Two alleged linkmen of ULFA (I) were apprehended by the 9th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles under Dao Division recently. As per inputs received, the two, after having collected a sum of money in the form of demonetized currency from a businessman in Moran, were heading to Chabua on a motor bike to convert the same into legal tender money. Following intelligence, the Army and the Police, in a joint operation, foiled their plans and nabbed the two at Chaulkhowa. The accused were identified as Binod Sahani, a resident of Doomdooma aged 41, and Chisty Hazarika aged 49 from Tinsukia. Demonetized currency amounting to 42,50,000 rupees, a Bajaj Pulsar, mobile phones and ATM cards were recovered from them. Sahani and Hazarika were handed over to Dibrugarh Police Station where an FIR to that effect was lodged.
