KOKRAJHAR: As part of a series of meetings with beneficiaries across BTR, the UPPL on Monday organized “Beneficiary meet and socio-economic awareness” under the Baokhungri constituency at Kangkrikhola in Kokrajhar.
In his speech, the CEM of BTR and UPPL president Pramod Boro said that the meeting with beneficiaries had been going on in 40 constituencies of BTC to make people aware of various central and state welfare schemes. He said that the Government of Assam and BTR had been taking responsibilities towards proper implementation of all government schemes meant for the people. He said, “We are aware of the fact that the schemes of central and state governments must be implemented in proper manner and therefore, we are making people aware of government schemes.” He called upon all to uphold the peace and integrity among all. He further said the UPPL led government had been delivering its promises and working for complete reconstruction of all departments.
Boro said that the EM and MCLAs of BTC had no quarter to give smooth services to the people but that the present council government had built G+5 quarter buildings and the Kokrajhar University at Harinaguri under Baokhungri constituency. He also said that Sujit Narzary Park with a statue would be constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore under Baokhungri constituency to honour the 1st Bodoland Movement martyr. He also said that the Baokhungri Festival site would be developed as a beautiful tourist spot and that various infrastructures had been taken up as part of the development of the Baokhungri Festival site. Taking a dig at former-MP Naba Kr Sarania, Boro said that Sarania did nothing for the people in his ten years tenure other than dividing people in Boro and OBoro and sowing the seed of communal hatred. He said that not a single road, bridge or culvert was given by former-MP Naba Kr Sarania.
The CEM claimed that the present government had been giving opportunities to women in various ways to make them self dependent. Tractors and financial incentives were being given to women SHG and societies.
In his speech, EM Ranjit Basumatary said that the Government of BTR led by Pramod Boro was working with inclusive policy for the equal development and justice for all communities. He said that the opposition parties BPF and the Congress failed to bring effective social development but were involved in promoting disharmony and hatred among different communities. He also said that the BPF had been playing dirty politics over land issues and failed to bring any reformation for smooth service to the people of the region. He claimed that within a short time, the UPPL-led government of BTR had given land pattas to over 39,000 families and over 3.5 lakh land related services delivered.
The meeting was also addressed by Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary and attended by Nominated Member of BTC Madhav Chandra Chetry, President of Women Wing UPPL Pratibha Brahma, and leaders of different cells.
On the other hand, APCC president and MP Gaurav Gogoi also attended a meeting of the Congress at Adabari, just 3 km away from the meeting venue of the UPPL at Kangkrikhola where party president Pramod Boro attended as chief guest. Gogoi delivered a speech for their candidate aspirant Sunil Basumatary for Baokhungri constituency.
