US Consul General Visits Kaziranga, Explores Energy Partnership At NRL

US Consul General Kathy Giles-Diaz expressed the possibility of strengthening the energy partnership between the two nations, highlighting the significant role Assam could play in this collaboration.

KAZIRANGA: The Consul General of the United States, Kathy Giles-Diaz, visited Kaziranga on Saturday as part of her official tour to Assam. Upon her arrival, she was received by the Co-District Commissioner of Bokakhat, Shivani Jerngal.

Later in the afternoon, she visited Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), where she was welcomed by the District Commissioner of Golaghat, Pulak Mahanta, along with senior officials of the refinery. At the Administrative Building of NRL, she engaged in an interactive meeting with refinery officials.

During the meeting, Giles-Diaz emphasized the importance of energy security, which was one of the key focus areas during the first bilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She expressed the possibility of strengthening the energy partnership between the two nations, highlighting the significant role Assam could play in this collaboration.

The Consul General of the United States also discussed various aspects of the refinery's operations, including its ongoing expansion projects and future prospects in the energy sector. Following the meeting, she toured the Numaligarh Refinery Plant and gained insights into the refinery's infrastructure and technological advancements. Later in the evening, Kathy Giles-Diaz interacted with Sonali Ghosh, the Director of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.
