Six people, including well-known members of Congress, were detained on Tuesday as a result of the Monday incident.

Rahul Phukan, the son of a previous Block Congress Secretary, and Pallab Chetia, the secretary of the Golaghat District Congress Committee, are among those in custody. According to reports, both are close friends of Gaurav Gogoi, the president of the Assam Congress.

The event was promptly attributed by the ruling BJP to the Congress's "politics of disruption." Invoking past political conflicts, Golaghat BJP MLA Biswajit Phukan claimed that the Congress "cannot tolerate the CM’s popularity."

Assam Power Minister Prasanta Phukan called it a "serious security breach" and even claimed a "attempt on the Chief Minister's life," despite the fact that no injuries were reported and the bottle did not strike any car directly. He demanded that Sarma's security detail be reviewed right now.

A political blame game has been sparked by the incident, which was captured on camera and extensively shared. In Dibrugarh, the BJP staged protests calling on the Congress to take action and issue a public apology.

Rituporno Konwar, a spokesman for the Youth Congress, denied the accusations, claiming that four of the organization's employees had been "illegally detained" prior to the event at a different demonstration against cattle theft.

The political climate has been steadily rising, despite CM Sarma's sarcastic downplaying of the incident in his media appearance.

The case has highlighted Assamese political division as well as security flaws surrounding the chief minister's travels.
