TANGLA: The man-elephant conflict continues to haunt the Indo-Bhutan border villages of the Bodo belt. In yet another incident, Amar Sona (38) was trampled to death by a wild jumbo near his residence in Nonaipara TE in Udalguri district on Saturday night at about 10 pm. According to reports, wild jumbos which descended down from the neighbouring Indo-Bhutan hills, charged at him and he immediately succumbed to his injuries. Later, on Sunday locals vented their anger and staged protest against Nonai Forest Division authorities.

"Wild jumbos have unleashed a reign of terror in the region, forcing villagers to spend sleepless nights. But the forest department authorities have not adopted any measures to curb the menace," alleged a local.
