NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) organized an Ambassadors' Meet in New Delhi with the aim of boosting international cooperation and foreign investment in India's northeastern region on April 15.
The session was attended by ambassadors, high commissioners and top diplomats from more than 80 countries, emphasizing the immense potential of the region for sustainable development.
Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, emphasized the economic and geopolitical strategic significance of this part of India. He reaffirmed the vision of the central government to build the region as a connectivity hub, a trade hub, and an innovation hub.
He also invited the participating nations to seek investment opportunities and harness the unique strengths and resources of each of the eight states in the northeast.
Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State (MoS), MDoNER, discussed the region's investment potential and ongoing infrastructure initiatives that have been implemented over the past decade. Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, also spoke about the region's unique advantages.
The event was a lead-up to the North East Investors Summit scheduled to be held in May 23-24, 2025. It was well-received by diplomatic representatives, who were keen on working with Indian stakeholders to realize the potential offered by the North Eastern states. The meet set the stage for future collaborations to foster economic growth and development in the region.
